Why small RPGs often beat the big ones on phones

Big RPGs porting to mobile usually carry baggage. Menus made for a controller, grind loops built to sell time, and fights that drag. Indie RPGs, made for phones from the start, sidestep most of that.

Emberfall Saga is the example I keep pointing to. Battles are quick, party management is clear, and there's no busywork padding the runtime. Every hour felt like it was moving the story forward.

Scope is a feature, not a limit. When a small team can't build a hundred hours, they build a tight twenty instead, and those twenty are almost always better paced.

If you've been burned by bloated mobile RPGs, try one that started small. You might be surprised how much more you actually finish.
